I am a potter producing handmade vessels for everyday use. I work to express the qualities of the stoneware and porcelain clays that I use. Formal forms and patterns are inspired by traditional Korean and Japanese aesthetics. Precisely constructed and encouraged to warp or alter during the firing process encouraging irregularities that communicate clays original plastic state. The use of these pots in everyday life is hugely important to me. I perceive making and firing to be one complete design process acting as a catalyst to encourage spontaneity in my work. My pots gain their individual characteristics through a process of reduction firing.
